It has been an exciting week at the The New Apton Centre as our lovelies, not satisfied in just watching, had their own Commonwealth Games!

Giant badminton, floor darts, hoopla bean bag toss and lots of dancing took place, with our winners earning themselves Gold medals.

Exercise is important for our lovelies, with the NHS advising that people over 65 should do some form of light exercise once a day. They also recommend that twice a week, people to do an activity that improves strength, balance, and flexibility.

There are mental health benefits too, with Age UK recommending exercise to also help with depression, dementia as well as boost your mood, which it certainly did whether they were participating or cheering on their friends! Everyone was a winner!!

If you want to find our more information about the benefits of exercise visit the NHS website https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/exercise-guidelines/physical-activity-guidelines-older-adults/
