Ahoy me hearties! Age Concern sails the River Stort!
Last week saw the lovelies set sale on the River Stort, all thanks to the volunteers and staff of Age Concern and of course the team at Canalability.
The sun was out and despite the heat, The New Apton Centre sailors were well looked after and kept cool by Canalability and the Age Concern team who kept them well hydrated through the trip.
It wasn't all about relaxing in the sun and enjoying the ride though, as our members were put to work and in charge of steering the canal boat.
Weena, the chef of Age Concern made sure our sailors didn't go hungry by making an amazing picnic spread for everyone to enjoy.
With no crashes, no one going over board or walking the plank, it must be said that overall it was another enjoyable and successful day for The New Apton Centre!
Canalability offer a range of canal boat holidays and trips for people with disabilities. Want to know more? Check out https://www.canalability.org.uk
Amazing day trips like this make a difference for our lovelies yet they require donations in order to contribute to the running costs. If you wish to donate please do so at https://www.kindlink.com/fundraising/age-concern/ageconcernbs
